ITZALBAITA

PROJECT SUBMITTED IN THE RENOVATION CATEGORY OF THE HISPALYT ARCHITECTURE AWARDS 2023-2025 – VII ROOF TILE EDITION

Located in Bera (Navarre), Itzalbaita is a renovation project that revitalises a traditional building linked to one of the town’s historic routes. The intervention adapts the property to new healthcare and therapeutic uses while preserving its architectural character and integration within its surroundings.

The renovation made it possible to restore the original structure and retain the traditional pitched roof, an essential feature of the area’s architectural heritage. In this context, the roof plays a key role from both a technical and aesthetic perspective.

For the roofing solution, Tejas Borja’s Red Mixta TB-10 Tech clay roof tile was selected. This model combines the appearance of traditional roof tiles with the technical performance of advanced ceramic roofing systems. Its design helps ensure durability, watertightness and reliable performance under the demanding weather conditions of northern Spain.

The integration of the clay roof reinforces the architectural identity of the building and helps preserve its traditional character, demonstrating how clay roofing materials remain an ideal solution for renovation projects that seek to balance heritage, functionality and comfort.
