With the goal of ensuring a high-performance energy retrofit and a sustainable approach, Tejas Borja was selected as the supplier of materials and solutions. The first step involved removing the slate and old roofing elements to make way for a new, innovative, and efficient roof. The BORJASAT roof insulation system was chosen, as it offers a comprehensive technical solution that is easy to install, significantly reducing on-site construction time.
In addition to improving insulation and waterproofing, the renovation was used as an opportunity to integrate a photovoltaic solar energy collection system using solar tiles. This decision represented a major step forward in reducing energy consumption from the grid and lowering greenhouse gas emissions. The solar tiles used in the project, from Tejas Borja’s “Flat” range, provide photovoltaic energy collection that integrates seamlessly into flat ceramic tile roofs. The SOLAR Flat-5XL ceramic tile, featuring monocrystalline technology and a power output of 23 Wp/unit, provided 5.5 units/m² of energy collection, offering a design that is exclusive and unique in the world.
The energy retrofit of the Town Hall in Aranda de Duero has been a significant achievement in terms of sustainability and energy efficiency. With its focus on state-of-the-art solar solutions and thermal insulation, this exemplary project has made a positive impact on the town’s historical heritage and the fight against climate change, paving the way toward a more sustainable and environmentally conscious future in the management of public buildings.
